August 8, 2022 following Alex Hardt’s sermon of August 7.
Painting a New Perspective As I reflect this week on whether I am bothered by the concept of, Am I enough? I have to say yes. It is a pitfall that Satan uses to ensnare us in the world of competition, materialism and causes us to suffer with low self-esteem. Alex challenged us to look at this question and to examine the labels given to us by ourselves and others. When we do, he asked us to think of ourselves solely as a child of God. With that perspective, we can see who we are and what value we have. Our memory verse for this week is 2 Corinthians 5:17. God promises that in Him we are new creations. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” As a child of God we have a new label that is sealed in place in us by the Holy Spirit and delivered by Christ’s work on the cross. This new label, given by our heavenly Father, far exceeds any label given by man. It opens a new life to the believer and a new identity which is in Christ. Scripture is filled with the benefits of this new label. Here are just a few, look them up and meditate on the new you this week as you memorize 2 Corinthians 5:17 and take it into your heart and being! You are: Forgiven and Redeemed Colossians 1:11-14 Sanctified Hebrews 2:11, Ephesians 4:22-24 A Citizen of Heaven Ephesians 2:19 Loved by God John 3:16 A friend of God John 15:15 Joint heir with Christ Romans 8:16-17 Sealed by the Holy Spirit Ephesians 1:13-14 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Have a blessed week basking and absorbing your new label in Christ!
