Crossroads Church - Reopen for worship

UPDATED February 14, 2021

Beginning on Sunday February 14, we will resume our morning worship services at the Crossroads church building at 11am.

Sunday morning services will also be broadcast LIVE on our Youtube channel here, on our Facebook page here, and on our Twitch channel here. Broadcasts will begin at 10:55am each Sunday, and the service itself will begin at 11:00am. These services will include prayer, worship music, the sermon, and communion.

Questions and Answers

Q: Why is Crossroads cancelling Sunday services at the church building?
A: Sunday services are not being cancelled! The leadership team made the difficult decision to go online only, because of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. Health authorities from Contra Costa County to the World Health Organization have issued advisories against large gatherings, and many in our congregation are high risk for this disease.

Here are relevant links to various health authorities:
  • World Health Organization
  • Centers for Disease Control
  • National Institutes of Health
  • California Department of Public Health
  • Contra Costa County Health Services

In the meantime, we encourage you to participate in worship using our Youtube LIVE stream services.

Q: When will Sunday services at the church start again?
A: The leadership team is monitoring the situation, which is constantly changing. When health authorities have determined that it is safe to have large assemblies again, services at the church building will resume.

Q: Is it safe to gather together in small groups?
A: Contra Costa Residents are currently required to "shelter in place". Health authorities continue to advise good practices: thoroughly washing hands and social distancing.

If you are showing any signs of sickness, even including a regular cold or flu, please do not attend a small group but consult your doctor. You may of course join the service by watching through Youtube.

Q: I am not comfortable or happy about cancelled services!
A: Sunday services are not being cancelled! We are simply participating in them at a wise distance in obedience to the governing authorities. Remember that the true Church is not a physical location on Sunday mornings but is the spiritual gathering of all Christians in all locations throughout all history.

In addition, this is a wonderful evangelistic opportunity for you to invite family and friends who do not normally attend church on Sundays to join our worship on the Live stream. God has blessed us with this chance to reach out!

Q: How do I watch Youtube LIVE streaming?

  2. In the search bar, type in "wearecrossroads" (all one word, no spaces).
  3. The first result that comes up should be our familiar church logo.
  4. Click the logo and you will be on the Crossroads Youtube page.

Q: What can kids do during the Sunday service?
A: There will be announcements about this in the future, but for now feel free to encourage them to join in singing and praying and participating in communion with your family or small group.

Q: How can we celebrate communion outside of the Sunday service?
A: The bread and the cup do not have any Biblical requirements, except that we participate in them in remembrance of our Lord Jesus Christ. Feel free to buy crackers and grape juice to serve your household. Communion will be proclaimed during the broadcast and you can partake with everyone else watching at that time.

Q: How can we take the offering outside of the Sunday service?
A: Tithes, gifts, and offerings can be given four different ways:
  1. Text your gift amount to 84321, and follow the instructions in the reply.
  2. Click here to give online on our website.
  3. Drop off your gift at the church during the week.
  4. Send your gift to the church through the mail

Q: I still do not like this situation or I have more questions.
A: Please call any member of the leadership team for further discussion. This is an unprecedented event not just for Crossroads but for most churches in America, and we are all struggling with that.

Yet the Bible calls us to support one another through every kind of difficulty, including difficult change. Everyone at Crossroads is here for you and for one another.
